VueScan is a program for working with HP, Minolta, Nikon, Polaroid, Epson, Canon scanners and others. Can work with internal color depth. VueScan supports automatic and manual configuration of most parameters and batch scan mode. Supports more than 700 scanner models with a certain advantage in the direction of slide scanners - Nikon, Minolta, Polaroid, Microtek, Epson. There is an automatic removal of image defects due to the channel of infrared scanning and multi-pass scanning with subsequent averaging of the result - to suppress the scanner's own noises. There are filters for suppressing grain, unsharp masking and removing the parasitic hue of the original. There are means for manual adjustment of the dynamic range and gradation characteristics (independently on the channels R, G, B).

Using frequently hidden features of a specific scanner, VueScan allows you to flexibly configure the image processing process, including advanced color correction, multi-pass and batch scanning capabilities, hardware exposure control, choice of maximum color depth and file format. Of great interest is the function of saving the scanner's raw data to a file (raw file) and then processing this data when the device is turned off, which eliminates the need to re-scan the originals and increases the resource of the equipment.

VueScan is especially useful when working with transparent originals (negatives, slides), because the program contains information about the color characteristics of more than 150 types of films. It is, first of all, a mask of color negativity, which can vary greatly among different films and manufacturers. The program provides a direct selection of the mask from the list of common films, as well as the ability to manually adjust the color components of the mask layer. Custom settings can be saved to a special file, which allows you to create individual profiles for each type of work.
